We use a 5 step process for natural toning for our brass fixtures:

Pre-treatment : Cleaning is done with a natural organic non-toxic degreaser

Rinsing : Multiple rinses in deionized water follow each bath

Oxidizing : Brass is immersed in a tank containing a neutral oxidizing agent. This technique creates many of the final colors based on time, temperature, surface preparation and humidity

Coloring : After oxidizing, other colors can be added in an immersion process

Sealing: In the natural toning process, the proper sealing of the poros oxide coating is absolutely essential to the performance of the coating. A matte or satin lacquer is applied at 300 degrees F.
